For over fifty years, I've been a calligraphic artist, combining hand-lettered text and watercolor miniatures in my award-winning work. As the painted imagery has gradually become more intriguing to me than letterforms, my focus has turned to the small watercolors - generally under 5 x 7" - that I create today. The inspiration for my work has always been found in the unique beauty of New England. The attempt to convey what I love about it is endlessly captivating, usually challenging, and always joyful. I work small because I continue to love the intimacy of miniature painting, and the potential for it to have a surprisingly large impact.
